Look below for fun things to see and do at encampment! |
What it's REALLY like... |
 |
You'll have
plenty of time to catch up on your reading... |
 |
Pilots and
planes arrive for the thankless task of taking cadets up in the air. This tends to
interrupt the daily routine, and usually cadets can't wait to get back to a sunny
afternoon of relaxing on the beautiful beach at San Luis Obispo... |
 |
You'll
learn how to intimidate a pillow with a simulated sword... |
 |
Rules for
"Sock Drawer Football" are complicated, but enjoyable nonetheless. Here we
see the black team, though outnumbered, about to claim victory by pinning the white team
in the corner. |
 |
Every
night, there will be free movies. For refreshments, there are sodas and all the
popcorn and candy you can eat! |
 |
The First
Sergeants and Sergeant Major have nothing to do all week other than practice their color
guard skills... |
 |
When you
first arrive, all of the other cadets form up just to welcome you. |
 |
You'll get
to see a really, really big flag. |
 |
Teamwork
means checking for gum on the bottom of the shoe on the cadet in front of you. |
 |
Nobody
likes leaving the comfort of their hotel suites to go off to spend a day on the dusty and
hot M-16 range, but it's a tradition and we do it anyway. |
 |
"Touch
your toes" is always a popular game to play during the many long and boring breaks
during encampment... |
 |
A cadet
secures a broom that the maids carelessly forgot to put away when they made up the
barracks. Other cadets stare at the broom in disbelief. Problems like this
have led us to terminate our contract with the prior cleaning company, and we are looking
forward to working with the newly appointed housekeeping staff this year.
|
 |
Here,
cadets display the handouts from their "history of Rock and Roll" class.
These are examples of "Stereo LP's", a form of recording that was common before
Compact Disks. Next year we hope to modernize and introduce 8-Tracks. |
 |
Two cadets
alertly seize an evil black square and pin it to the ground before it can attack anything.
Other cadets watch with great appreciation. |
 |
Each year,
several cadets attempt to sneak into encampment when nobody is looking. It's much
easier just to send in your paperwork. |
